Meet the Coaches
Mark began as the Icebreakers head coach in 2005.  He was the head coach for Becker/Big Lake High School boys team prior to taking over the helm for the Icebreakers.  Formerly of Saint Louis Park, Minnesota, Mark played his prep hockey with Benilde - Saint Margaret's as a goaltender. Furthering his football and hockey career, Mark attended Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He was on the NSU football and hockey teams as a wide receiver and a goaltender, respectively. Mark has a bachelor of Science degree in Education, a minor in coaching, a Master's in Educational Administration, and  a license in K-12 Administration. This year will be Mark's seventh year teaching Social Studies at Cathedral High School/John XXIII Middle School.

Jake is in his fourth year of on the Icebreakers coaching staff.  He is enrolled at SCSU and is in his fourth year of studies.  He is a 2006 graduate of Saint Cloud Cathedral High School.  He played hockey for twelve years in the Saint Cloud Youth Hockey program, and joined the Cathedral Crusaders high school boys hockey program in his sophomore year and played for three years in the Crusaders program.

For the last 23 years Joel has been involved in the game of hockey.  Joel began playing hockey at the age of 6 and played high school hockey for the Worthington Trojans, graduating in 1999.  During his senior year, he was a member of the Section 1A/1AA Great 8 team.  After high school Joel moved to the Saint Cloud area to attend SCSU, graduating in 2004 with a degree in teaching.  Coach Heitkamp was the head coach at Saint Cloud Tech from 2004-2009, before the merging of the Tiger and Icebreaker hockey programs this season. Other than coaching hockey, Coach Heitkamp also teaches Health Education, is the Activities Director at South Junior High, and coaches' 8th grade football.
Tom Johnston
Assistant Coach
Tom is in his fifth year as an assistant coach for Saint Cloud girls high school hockey.  He graduated from SCSU in 2005 with degrees in Health Education and Physical Education with a minor in coaching.  Tom worked for the SCSU Men's and Women's Hockey Programs from 2000 to 2005.  He served as a student-assistant coach for the women's program during the 2004-2005 hockey season, and joined the Saint Cloud Tech program as an assistant coach for the 2005-2006 season.  Tom is a class of 2000 graduate from Hill-Murray High School, where he was a member of the 1999-2000 state tournament team.  He is in his third year at Tech High school teaching health and physical education.
Rachel Helloloid
Assistant Coach
Rachel joins the Icebreakers coaching staff for her first year as an assistant coach for Saint Cloud girls high school hockey. She  graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Superior in 2004 with a degree in Mathematics and a minor in coaching. She played college hockey for UWS in 2001-2003 and for UMD in 1998-1999. Rachel was the assistant boys high school hockey coach for Crosby-Ironton-Aitkin for the 2005-2006 season. Rachel is a 1998 International Falls High School graduate, where she played for and helped start the high school girls program. Rachel is in her third year teaching math at Saint Cloud Christian School.
